Getting around Marmaris
Monday, 2nd November 2009
One thing all tourists should bear in mind is that most Turkish drivers are not the best, traffic lights are often ignored, pedestrian crossings are always ignored, as are speed limits. So if you are driving, or walking, please take extra care.
Marmaris has lots of taxis, all of which have to be metered. Fare are cheap, and the taxis reliable.
Turkey has an excellent bus system, and it is possible to get a bus from Marmaris to virtually any destination. Local Bus services in Marmaris are also good.
An indulgent way of travelling is to go by water taxi, which go to various locations nearby, and are great fun.
The cheapest way to travel around is by a Dolmus. This is a mini bus service, which is very cheap, but also well regulated and safe, and serve a wide variety of destinations. There are designated routes, but the driver will stop anywhere to pick up and set down passengers.
