Marmaris is full of shopping opportunities, with hundreds of small shops, and some markets. There are, of course, the usual fakes, but a tremendous amount of things to buy at excellent prices.
There are upmarket shopping centres, where genuine designer goods are available, as well as some beautiful locally produced gold and silver jewellery.
Remember to bargain in the small shops and markets, you will be surprised at the reductions you can get. More canny buyers will know that the shopkeepers have no expectation of getting anything close to the displayed price. Visitors will find the vendors determined, but friendly and not aggressive. Local specialities include leather goods, silver and gold jewellery, precious stones, glass beads, brassware, copperware, textiles and of course, Turkish rugs and carpets. There is an amazing selection of souvenirs available.
Every visitor should take home a jar of the local Marmaris honey, Cam Dali.
